The two sides have met in particular to discuss two issues: on the one hand, the opening of classrooms working exclusively in Euskera, and on the other, the right to exams in Euskera, both in Brebeta and in Low. As reported by Ekhi Erremunerdegi in Berria, Antton Kurutxarri, president of EEP, the meeting was in a very good atmosphere “and there was a will to let us speak and listen to our arguments.”
In the case of the classrooms entirely in Euskera, Kurutxarri notes that the ministerial representatives have recognized the centrality of the institution of the Northern Basque Country and that, therefore, the OPE is responsible for managing these issues. It remains to be seen what this new management will bring, which has so far been the responsibility of the academic authorities of the Pyrenees Atlantiques department.
No clear result has been obtained on the right to undergo tests in Euskera. They talked mainly about brebeta, and soon the EEP will receive some response, but they talked about low and left the issue for a next appointment.
