On the decision of the CPMP
- Regardless of our opinion of the political positions adopted by the parties, collectives or militants both in prison and “abroad”, the debate on political ideas, positions and dynamics must, in our opinion, be subject to minimum criteria.
As far as the public dimension is concerned, although it is conditioned by repression, the following are, for us, some of the premises and obligations that any political debate should have: to be the owner of the head of opinion in the presence of any speaker, to have respect for those with whom we disagree, to be willing to criticize and self-criticism, not to place limits on the expression of points of view, whether in the case of one’s own position or in the case of criticism of third parties.
Let’s say something about the decision taken by the majority of the Basque Political Prisoners Collective (EPPK), although in a brief way, they have made an individual choice to approach the penitentiary policy of Spain and France in order to obtain penitentiary benefits or, where appropriate, to get out of prison individually.
In practice and if we look at the substance of the decision, the parameters of Amnesty are not taken into account, both in a tactical sense (return of all reprisals to their homes) and in a strategic sense (recognition of the national and social rights of the Basque Country). As a result, the repressive drift will continue without stopping and, in the first place, we will not resist using the struggle for independence and socialism for the Basque Country, that is, for Amnesty.
In addition, it is not only a question of prisons, because there is time, Crear is in a position of force legality, and ETA has ceased its activity and its disarming has taken place. The political circle of opposition to the states has been closed. From now on, the Official Patriotic Left, and all those who depend on it, will operate exclusively under the parameters of Spanish and French legality.

Such a decision has broken the unity of the collective CFP, and from now on the priority will be to get one out of jail individually, preventing joint or collective combat dynamics.
Likewise, this type of decision has been a huge lack of solidarity for the Basque Political Prisoners in the most precarious situation inside. We are well aware that the Ministry of the Interior of Spain (France) and the General Directorate of Prisons under it will mark the pace of repression or concessions, that is, “I will give you this and for you, I will take this away.” In such a situation, what could happen?
In our opinion, any political strategy based on the legality of the enemy will always depend on the enemy himself, without exception. If we want to see the Basque Country socialist in the future, we have amnesty as the only option.
We must do everything in this way, from the street, and we must put all our strength in the fight for amnesty. This must be our meeting point and, united by the common mind, we must start from the horch in the path of the solution, but only the struggle will bring us a definitive end, although, in order to defend what has been achieved, the next day we must maintain the struggle.
