The French police have arrested a 52-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a manslaughter offence of a male nature. According to the Basque Department of the Interior, the detainee called the police on Saturday to inform him that he had found his wife dead. The body of the woman, aged 53, showed signs of violence and several contusions.
The Prosecutor's Office has asked the woman to undergo an autopsy to determine the causes of death. The man, who is detained in Baiona prison, will be brought to justice next Thursday. She has a history of male violence.
