A “fiscal shield” with little solidarity
- The EAJ and PSE, with the help of the PP, have revived the tax protection or “fiscal shield” that has little solidarity for the richest people in Gipuzkoa, while at the same time reducing subsidies to avoid dependency to 4,330 families.
That's the way it is. The General Assemblies of Gipuzkoa have taken the first step to abolish the tax on Big Fortunes and Wealth established by the previous foral government group. This measure, which is part of the new tax system that they want to impose, will greatly benefit the employer because, among other things, they have managed to lower the corporate tax rate.
The report of the tax reform confirms that 875 people will enjoy the “fiscal shield” and bring an average of 38,000 euros less to the provincial treasury of Gipuzkoa. Bloody and scandalous data: 38 of the richest people in this territory – with a net worth of more than 12.8 million euros – will save 15 million euros without having to bring them into the public coffers. The Hacienda will give an average of 408,316 euros to the super-rich of Gipuzkoa each year. Meanwhile, 16,697 people – 4,330 families – who need help to avoid dependency have suffered cuts ranging from 300 to 1,000 euros per year.
It is false that there is no money for the public coffers and that as a result social cuts have to be made, we are seeing them in Gipuzkoa. These mentioned parties serve some privileged with their tax policies. There is no lack of reason for protesters against the restrictions when they shout, “This is theft!” “There is no shortage of money, there are thieves.”
