Two violations reported at the Vitoria festivities
- The Vitoria-Gasteiz Feminist Movement has received two direct complaints for rape and six for sexual assault in the family environment. The feminist movement has denounced that two women have been raped during the Vitoria-Gasteiz holidays, on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. In addition to these two cases, the Vitoria-Gasteiz Feminist Movement (GMF) has received the direct denunciation of another six more assaults due to male violence. This Thursday there was a concentration of repulsion and support for the women assaulted in Bilbao, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa. The Lakua Security Department has confirmed that two women have reported sexual abuse by their partners. There are currently no detainees, but the Ertzaintza has reported that the root causes of the event are being investigated. On Wednesday, the Local Police of Vitoria-Gasteiz arrested two men travelling in their car. A 24-year-old has been charged with touching a minor and another 33 year-old man for beating his partner.
In a statement, the City of Vitoria-Gasteiz expressed its "strongest condemnation and rejection" of sexual assaults and added that the "psychological, legal, health, protection and reception" resources at its disposal have been made available to women. In this regard, he stressed that he adheres to the mobilization called by the Feminist Movement of Madrid.
