The City of Elgeta has signed in Basque the agreement that the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa announced in June for the renewal of the clothing of the sports club of Elgeta. From the Council, in point 6 of the convention, it was established that the signing of the agreement must be bilingual and have since been engaged in a linguistic debate.
The UEMA and the Observatory on Linguistic Rights have defended the right to sign in Euskera only by the City of Elgeta, based on the Law 10/1982 basic normalization of the use of the Basque Country and the laws of the Provincial Decree of the Provincial Council.
Thanks to the signing of the agreement, the Elgeta City Hall will receive a grant of EUR 13,000 to finance the costumes that are already renovated.
