Crowdfunding to promote the documentary about Elbira Zipitria
- Film director Maider Oleaga is filming a documentary about the woman who founded the first clandestine Basque school, with the aim of showing “who really was” Elbira Zipitria. The possibility of contributing to the project has been extended until June 15.
Elbira was a professor at the Cipitria school before the Civil War of 1936, and when the war broke out she moved to the North. In 1942 he returned to San Sebastian and founded the first clandestine Basque school in Fermin Kalbeton Street, which he maintained until 1969. His teaching methods were very advanced.
In addition to his contributions to the Basque language and education, he was an important political figure. She was a speaker at the Women’s Nationalist Assembly and Secretary of Gipuzkoa and was one of the first women to enter politics. He died in San Sebastian in 1982.

Director Maider Oleaga has lived at 26 Fermin Kalbeton Street since 2011, the house where Zipitria founded the clandestine school. He will make the documentary IRA 26-2 to show who he was and record it at home in video newspaper format.
The recording began on May 27 and will end at the end of June, and the production will take place over a period of two or three months. The ‘corwdfunding’ has been made to cover post-production costs, pay commissions from Verkami and Paypal, and other expenses. It ends on June 15 and has a goal of reaching 6,000 euros.
