The Ecuadorian city of Guyaquil has been beaten by a hospital and a warehouse of corpses that have appeared on the street
- In contrast to images of empty streets and collapsed hospitals around the world, images have come with great impact from the Ecuadorian city of Guyaquil. After leaving the corpses on the street, the locals have set fire to more than one of them to fight the spread of the disease.
The BBC has titled: The coronavirus in Ecuador, the drama of Guayaquil, a city with more deaths than many countries, and the struggle against the clock to make dignified funerals. There they have reported that the funeral service is collapsed by the crisis of covid19 in the Basque Country. In the article, the citizen Jesica Castañeda denounces that three days after a relative was released that she has died in her house she has not been looking for her.
In the city, 2.3 million people live, making it the main source of the disease in the country.

In Democracy Now you can read that in the street or in uninhabited buildings there have appeared several corpses that have been decomposed wrapped in plastic bags, where hospitals are also full and the city’s cadaver tank is full. Officially, Ecuador has the highest number of coronavirus cases in South America after Brazil: 120 deaths and 3,163 positive. However, authorities in Guayaquil have reported that more than 400 bodies have been recovered in recent days.
