Zinegoak opens the festival with a documentary on ondarrutarra production
- The release of the documentary My little samurai on teen suicide Ekai will open this year’s Zinegoak festival: the film director and Ekai’s parents want to break taboos on transsexuality and raise awareness.
Parents say that waiting for the hormone treatment that never arrived influenced her death, and the short film also wants to ask for the treatments to be carried out earlier. “People mix transformism, transgender, transgender, transsexuality. People are always thinking about genitals and we should think more about people’s feelings,” said film director Arantza Ibarra.
“A thousand ways of living”
Beyond sexual orientation, this year’s edition aims to give visibility to elements of sexual diversity that are not usually present in the foreground, such as gender identity. Once the festival in Bilbao is over, Zinegoak’s offer will be extended to 60 locations throughout Euskal Herria.
