The EHZ festival started in 1996, but has had many ups and downs in the last two years. Faced with this situation, in January several people met at the Gaztetxe Zizpa of Baiona, at the general EHZ congress, to talk about the future of the festival. There they presented the project of a renewed EHZ and agreed to go ahead with the festival. The festival will be held in Irisarri coinciding with next week.
As the organizers informed from the outset, the renewed RSI will have two axes: cultural and political. According to the organizers’ statements collected by Ipar Hitza, the festival “must be a tool that strengthens the battlefield for young people working in different associations and agents”. Regarding the cultural offer, EHZ aims to promote “hegemonic non-cultural proposals”, prioritizing artists to join the values of the festival and promoting popular culture.
Although the programme is about to materialize, as during the festival the direct ones have also advanced that there will be workshops to deepen the political content.
