Hundreds of people met yesterday, February 9, in Legazpi (Gipuzkoa) at the national presentation of the 2020 Meeting of Young Socialists of the Basque Country. With the help of the Socialist Youth Coordinator and Ikasle Abertzaleak, from noon onwards, a meal, a conference and a concert was held in Urbeltz.

Thus, at 13:30 hours, hundreds of young people met in the Urbeltz shelters, after a popular meal. Later, at 16:30 a.m., two GKS members presented the Topagune, in which they explained "the political role it plays within the socialist line", as well as this year's programme. The rapporteurs explained that, far from being "a consumer item", the Topagune is "a meeting point for a large-scale work process", an "example of planned work". Topagunea, according to the organizers, is "a tool to multiply forces within the socialist line, deepen the organizational capacities and contribute directly to local projects and spaces that are organized at the national level".

Publication of the programme

The rapporteurs also gave details about this year’s Meeting Forum yesterday. Last year, the center of the Topagune was the Esklabak building of Azpeitia (Gipuzkoa), and this year, the central will be the Hotel Expropriuon de Legutiano (Álava). The initiative, as explained in the presentation, in addition to "adapting the spaces organized within the framework of the socialist line", also has "importance as an infrastructure for a work process".

As far as this year’s programme is concerned, the first two days – 9 and 10 April – will be working. A number of blocks will be completed, covering works, workshops, shifts and leisure. On Saturday, 11 April, talks and round tables have been organized to "deepen the political content" and on Sunday, 12 April, a march will be held in the area of Albertia. On Sunday night several music recitals will be offered: Rude Pride, Boot Boys, Dead Bronco and a rap and sound system recital from Euskal Herria.

The trade fair rapporteurs recalled yesterday that the meeting bonds are available at the points of sale.

Acting by Benito Lertxundi

After the talk, Benito Lertxundi offered a concert at the fronton Urbeltz, starting at 19:00 in the afternoon. Previously, the show had generated great expectation and illusion. As members of GKS and IA have recently pointed out, Lertxundi is "one of the main references of the music world in Euskal Herria", and yesterday's concert also intended to "promote the intergenerational relationship".

All the tickets put for sale were exhausted, occupying the 700 seats of the pediment. Attendees from all over Euskal Herria were able to enjoy a concert of about two hours duration.
