A hundred agents defend the participation of the Socialist Movement in the txosnas
- "The Socialist Movement is part of the political and social reality of our people and, like any other agent who does not have an exclusive ideology, has the right to participate in open spaces and in the organization of popular festivities", the note points out. The signatories include many youth centres, associations, popular and neighbourhood initiatives.
Taking as an example the cases of Bilbao and Vitoria-Gasteiz, and announcing that another year the Socialist Movement is "denying" the possibility of participating in the festivities of these cities, about a hundred agents have signed a letter with the aim of "avoiding exclusions". "We are in time to resolve this situation," they say at the end of the note.
They point out that the popular festivities, opened throughout the Basque Country, advance through the voluntary work of dozens of agents, becoming involved in the participatory character of the festivities. They even claim that agents without institutional protection are an important means of supporting their daily activities financially. They say that the prohibitions of Bilbao and Vitoria "oppose this model" because the Socialist Movement "suffers an exclusion": "they violate the equality of conditions of all and open the way to an economic and social blockade against the Socialist Movement". According to the signatories, "such exclusions have no place within the People's Movement".
Protection of 100 agents
They understand that the shared text is more widespread than the denunciation of the Socialist Movement: "The Socialist Movement is part of the political and social reality of our people and, like any other agent that does not have an exclusive ideology, has the right to participate in broad spaces and in the organization of popular parties. Moreover, many of us today collaborate with the Socialist Movement in dozens of towns and neighborhoods at parties and in other areas."
Among the signatories are endless cheesemakers, gagged gazte, associations and social movements. Among others, the Pro-Amnesty and Repressive Movement, Askapena, AZET Bilboko Etxebizitza Sindikatua, Berri Otxoak, Ecuador Etxea, Guggenheim Ez, Indar Gorri, NATO Ez, Sare Antifaxista or Sañu Bizirik.
