UPV/EHU asks students to control how teachers are teleworking
- The University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea has sent a letter signed by the Vice-Chancellor to all students on March 25, indicating how they should receive the training in the new situation that the coronavirus has brought. The letter says: "We know that, in general, the work of teachers is being performed according to the strategy established by the university, but, in exceptional cases, it may not be so." In the case of subjects not adapted to the new situation, the letter calls on students "if it seems appropriate" to "say" the professor's name.
The letter sent by the UPV/EHU to all students explains that "most" of the teachers have been trained to continue teaching from home for COVID19. The letter specifies the type of studies students should receive: "We think that each subject has to have a work plan and you should know it, through eGela or some similar instrument, but you also have to have the possibility to be in direct contact with the teacher in the teaching hours, in the mentoring hours, and also have to follow the learning process".
In case a teacher does not act this way, "notify"
The letter sent by the University urges students to report on subjects where the predetermined conditions are not met: "We are aware that, despite some technical problems, in general the work of the faculty is being performed according to the strategy established by the university, but, in exceptional cases, this may not be so. That is why we have written to you to inform you of the training you are receiving as indicated in the preceding paragraphs, and if not, to report on your situation."
The letter establishes the following procedure: contact the coordinator teacher of level, module or degree, or write to the Vice-Rector of Students and Employability. First, speaking personally with the teacher that there could be some problem does not appear among the options.
In the expression of the "problem", the letter calls for the following information to be provided: "Please state your name and surname, title and subject in which the problem is found, indicating if you consider it appropriate who the responsible teacher is. Please also indicate the specific problem."
