Neighbours of Añana call for the current roads to be adapted to the TAV Milan-Vitoria
- The environmental impact statement of the TAV line project Milan-Vitoria was published this week in the BOE. Faced with this situation, the AHTrik Ez de Valles Alaveses platform has reiterated its call for the adaptation of conventional routes.
The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge of the Government of Spain has just published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) the environmental impact statement of the High-Speed Line project Milan-Vitoria. In this way, the environmental assessment procedure started in November 2018 has been completed.
As a result, the last previous procedure has been completed for the final approval of the Informative Study by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. This final approval will complete the planning phase, starting the project and execution phase of the works.
In line with the criticisms leveled in recent years, both the social train and the platform No to the TAV in the Alaveses Valleys, it has denounced the "nonsense of this macro-infrastructure", claiming "a real alternative", the adequacy of the conventional railways. All the trade unions in the railway sector and the anti-TAV citizen platforms in the areas affected by the Milan-Vitoria line presented in May an agreement on this alternative proposal, supported by platforms such as Bureba Etorkizuna Da, Miranda Defensa del Tren or No to the TAV Valles Alaveses.
The proposal also coincides with the line advocated by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. Secretary of State Hugo Morán himself said that the "strategic approach" of the Ministry is to improve and adapt the current infrastructures. Currently, this wager has been made in the Caste• Logroño and Teruel-Zaragoza sections, with a speed of 250 km per hour, and between Hendaia and Bordeaux, within the Atlantic corridor. "In these sections, the existing railway tracks are being adapted and improved rather than building a new parallel rail corridor," the platform against the TAV stressed.
"This is a solution that would minimize the environmental impact as much as possible," said the neighbors of the Navarra locality of Añana. "In fact, the infrastructure would be kept in an anthropized corridor where the landscape has included the current train path. The construction of a parallel rail highway, costing billions of euros, is a large-scale corruption. And that is what the coalition government of the PSOE and Podemos, with the support of the leftist parties, is proposing together with the Basque Government."
