From 22 to 28 October and under the title ‘Add forces, Let’s go away! Under the slogan “To the sovereignty of our bodies and territories!”, the 11th World Women’s March will take place in Bilbao. International Meetings. In the absence of less than a week for the meetings held every two years, the details of the program have been made public at the press conference that the MICE group has opened for the Feministon-Feministon People's Day.
The meetings will involve women from 42 countries, and between 22 and 26 closed meetings will be held between representatives of international delegations. In addition, for the feminist movement of Euskal Herria, a parallel program has been prepared throughout the week with round tables, concerts, a feminist historical tour of the Ría de Bilbao, an excursion to the Arratia region and many other activities. From this programme, the organizers have highlighted two initiatives: one, the Reception to international women to be held on 22 October in the Bizkaia aretoa, from 18:00 a.m.; and another, the Feministon Herria, to be held on 27 October.
The Arenal Feministon in Bilbao will become Herria on October 27, and the program will be extended throughout Saturday. Feministon Herriarekin intends to make visible the alternatives that the feminist movement of Euskal Herria has underway. “We’ll show the world which feminist people we want,” the organizers said.
The day will start with a feminist breakfast at 10:00 in the morning, followed by a roundtable entitled “Feministon bake eraikitzen”, in which organizers have pointed out that they have many questions to answer on the subject. “Remember that this year the Machista violence murdered six women who had their life project in the Basque Country. Is that peace?” they added. There will also be a “Feminist Alternatives Fair” throughout the morning, in which the different feminist projects that are under way, “the feminist Euskal Herria Road that work in the transformation of different areas of life” will take place.
After the round table, women’s food will be celebrated, and at 17:30 a demonstration will emerge by the Arriaga, with the same motto as the meetings. At the end of the day, Mice, Sustraians, Ni Yuta Ni Tuya and Gora Etorri will offer live concerts.
For a week, the members of the Women’s World March of the Basque Country have shown sufficient motivation and strength to receive the representatives of the different corners of the world: “We are excited and happy to welcome international women and to show the work we are doing in Euskal Herria, because here we are still working and so we will continue until all and all of us are free.”
