Mimogoxo is a way to give a practical way out of what is learned in naturopathy courses for producers. “This work is complementary to us, but it gives us the opportunity to combine theory with practice,” says Ezkio’s. In general, the world of cosmetics has not attracted Agirresarobe too much, and what has driven this activity has actually been the vision of health: “The objective of the Mimogoxo project is to create products to measure oneself and others, but always from the point of view of health. We don’t understand cosmetics in relation to beauty.” Throughout the year, Mimogoxo members also offer soaps, creams and workshops to relieve superficial itching, inflammations or other diseases.
A space for the processing centre has been set up in the farmhouse, although they stress that an excessively large infrastructure or machinery is not needed: “Sauces, fire… we do not use special tools to make transformations.” The raw materials with which the products are made give priority to proximity and ecology. They take the wax from the beekeepers of the Goierri and buy the olive oil from Navarra. With the help of the designer Aizpea Lasa Muxika, they wanted to focus on packaging, which uses few packaging and eco-friendly.
The products of Mimogoxo are sold in the Biziola de Goierri project, in the Igartubeitia farmhouse and in the shop of the Alegi district of Itsaso, but mainly sold live, from mouth to mouth and at fairs. “We feel a growing interest in medicinal plants and these products, as well as young people,” explains Agirresarobe. In this momentum, the contribution of people like Garbiñe Larrea stands out.
