They call on the Basque Government to re-establish teacher replacements in the CAV
- On 12 March last, the Basque Government suspended the procedure to replace the incumbent teachers who leave or leave. The educational community has pressed for the right to education of all students to resume, and now the Basque Government says that only the substitutions will be complied with at the two levels and when they are "essential".
During these three weeks they have claimed that teachers are saturated with work and that teleworking is also a job to be developed. “Don’t all students deserve faculty? What are VET students going to do? And the students of the 2nd year of high school?” asked those who have launched the campaign for relocation. The request has been made directly to the Basque Government.
Substitutions shall not be covered in full
LAB has announced that "Lakua opens the door for substitutions to be covered" by pressure from the educational community and added that the measure comes "eighteen days late". On the contrary, STEILAS wanted to make determinations: "The replacements will be covered from day one and will not be fully covered. In Bachiller, only 2nd and 6th grade students will be replaced when the administration considers them 'essential'.
STEILAS adds that there is not even a date for the resumption of the Alternatibagunea programme, which is responsible for allocating teacher replacements, and which is suspended.
Apparently, if a professor or teacher is missing, the intention of the Basque Government is to fill the gap between the rest, but it is not serious. The ELA trade union has accused Lakua of making cuts in education by taking advantage of the coronavirus crisis.
Temporary replacement teachers are among the most disadvantaged in education and are harmed by government measures. The seats cannot be filled, salaries have not been paid, they have been unemployed and points cannot be accumulated.

"What the Basque Government is doing is outside the law," they denounce in the petition and stress that in Navarre and La Rioja, "as a result of the denunciation and impetus of unions and workers, they have managed to re-establish substitutions".
