EH Bildu Parliamentarian Mikel Otero has accused the government of breaching the Waste Prevention and Management Plan: “We have a big problem with waste management and the government still has no solution.” In fact, according to data collected by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the CAPV sends to the outside at least 387,165 tonnes of waste due to lack of infrastructure, mainly in landfills in Cantabria, La Rioja, Castilla-León and Navarra.
EH Bildu has asked for explanations from the Economic Development and Environment Minister, Arantxa Tapia, and has accused the Zaldibar Landfill of failing to respond four years ago: “Zaldibar’s management model was broken and since then the Government has made no solution or alternative.” Otero has asked the Government to clarify the total amount of waste exported by the CAPV, why this happens and what measures it will take to solve the problem.
