The Eztena festival focuses on the bustle and bustle of the new dramaturgies
- Errenteria Orereta will become a showcase and laboratory for unusual works in the performing arts programmes at the Eztena festival to be held from 5 to 12 June. It will be an opportunity to look at diversity and risk.
The Eztena Festival of Performing Arts has a long history, as this year it is celebrating its 14th edition. At its founding, several creators and theatrical companies from Errenteria-Orereta met to open a window to new dramaturgies and to give space to companies and works that, far from following traditional forms of aesthetics and organization, assumed a risk. There were many proposals that at that time did not have a place or had difficulty in finding a place in the programming. Today, it remains an important movement and risk is still a risk. Research projects, experimentation and other priorities are as necessary as the proposals made by theatres.
Chop! The festival organized by the cultural association, the cultural association Mikelazulo and the City Hall of Errenteria will also be a meeting point, for which a space of its own will be opened on June 10 in Mikelazul. It will be a meeting place between companies, audiences and programmers rather than passively hosting the theater. In fact, the organizers have stressed that we must work, win and take care of the possibility of taking risks, creating public.
This year, in addition to the completed works, you will be able to see the ones that are in the process of being created thanks to the Puneberg scholarships granted to support ongoing or ongoing work. This process will be shown by the fellows on June 11. A total of 18 projects have been submitted, of which six have been selected. The organizers have added that it has been difficult to make the selection, not only as far as scholarships are concerned, but also that they have not been able to schedule all the works they would like at the festival.
For the second consecutive year, the festival will have the presence of the Spectator Club, in collaboration with EHAZE. Since its creation last year as a pilot programme, the club has been on track in other festivals and performances. Two Eztena performances will be worked out: The theatrical performance and theatrical performance Makers that will be offered by the company L’Alacran on 12 June is in Zeozer, in the process of work, which will be offered by the Metrokoadroka on 5 June. Eneritz Artetxe and Maider Galartza will lead the club and the sessions will be in Basque. Participating viewers will have the opportunity to receive a short training on how to look at the theater and after the performances will have a space to dialogue and analyze together.
