Boris Johnson is fined for holidays during the pandemic on Downing Street
- Finally, the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has been fined for failing to comply with COVID-19 standards with the festivities held during the pandemic. His wife, Carrie, and Treasury Secretary Rishi Sunak, are also among the 50 convicted by the Prosecutor’s Office.
Fines for infringements of the COVID-19 rules range from EUR 60 to EUR 120. However, in the case of Boris Johnson, the fundamental problem is not the fine, but whether he lied to Parliament, when he said clearly in the House of Commons that he had not broken the rules. As a result, Labour opposition leader Keir Starmer called for Johnson's resignation "for repeatedly breaking the law and lying to the British," the statement said.
