The Mayor of San Sebastian, Eneko Goia, opposes the ruling declaring the house of Igeli Alonso illegal in Igeldo and points out that the municipal legal services will resort to: “The appeal presented by Haritzalde is limited to the form of the house, its demolition is not ordered, nor is the right to buildability questioned.” On Tuesday, Goia was confirmed at a press conference and stressed that the way the resource is going is being studied.

Last Friday, the environmental organization Haritzalde reported that the San Sebastian Administrative Disputes Court 3 declared the house of Igeldo of former football player Xabi Alonso illegal. The Group stated that the house built by Alonso “has nothing to do with” the reconstruction of the original farmhouse and that it has not “fulfilled” the obligation to maintain the rural typology.

“The argument in the judgment is so radical that the court has not had to pronounce on the specific irregularities that we denounced. In addition to not having a license, what was granted to him is null and void.” The group considers that the house should be torn down.

Haritzalde denounces the “mismanagement and frivolity” of the City Hall of San Sebastian. It also stresses that the City Council has failed to comply with the rules: “The City Hall, instead of defending the logic and right of the citizens, accepted these requests.”

The members of Haritzalde have also put the management conclusions on the table: “Who will assume the millionaire effects of this irregular license?” They call the City Hall to explain what happened: “The time has come. Let me clarify what happened in the City Hall to approve all this. It is not the first time that associations have to prosecute high-profit municipal licenses, in violation of the law, seriously harming the environment, urban planning and the general interest.”
