In the complaint, the union explained that the UTE was aware of the discharges of water that occurred in the site days before the dismissal, but that, despite this, it did not investigate the discharges, gave no warning and did not take preventive measures.
“The slowness of the TEU in ensuring the safety of workers inside the tunnel and of citizens abroad calls into question the safety of all,” ELA added in the complaint. In addition, given the situation of the works, the union has stressed that more accidents can occur with "much more serious consequences" than those recorded.
For this reason, ELA has called for the works to be stopped and a study to be carried out "by experts external to the company where the works are being developed". In addition, the union has requested an appointment with the Labor Inspectorate with the aim of “presenting the necessary documentation to clarify what has been denounced and provide a solution to the problem”.
