On February 2, it is marked red by more than one neighbor living in the Erbetegi house. By that day, the building where they have left the house and where they have lived will become the grass of the TAV, if nothing changes. According to the act of occupation signed in December, the “free” house must remain on Tuesday, for which the administration will implement the Law on Forced Expropriation.
There have been several families in Erbetegi who have lived so far and for some time have denounced their situation and the lack of support for it. At first, Adif told them he wouldn't have to demolish the building to build the TAV, but after a change in the railway project, they've seen themselves homeless overnight. Faced with the “ridiculous” compensations and the huge prices of housing in the city, which were about to stay in the street, they went to the City Hall of Donostia in search of solutions, “because we are also Donostiarras”. However, they have criticized the attitude of the mayor, Eneko Goia, who has only offered them social renting.
Many residents have lost ownership of the house and have had no choice but to accept that social rental for a few years, but there are also those who do not accept the rental for asking for more dignified solutions and have the risk of staying in the street with “furniture”. Furthermore, they have explained that, with the uncertainty that this entails, they have not yet been given the money they have to advance in terms of compensation.
Also the farmhouse Okendotegi
Erbetegi was about to be dismantled in November 2019, but the date has been delayed for a number of reasons. Among other things, because as he made known this medium, “it was protected as an area of archaeological presumption”, which required an archaeological study. On the contrary, neighbours argue that this is an “ad hoc” study of ADIF and that it does not recognise its value.
Casa Torre Erbetegi dates from the 16th century and, as explained by the Ancora Association, houses an architectural heritage of long history. A collection of signatures has also been initiated to request that the building be preserved.
In any case, it is not the only historic building in danger by the works of the TAV in the Urumea Bank of San Sebastian. The railway plant will also pass through the high of Okendotegi, a house of several centuries, of the few villages left in Donostia-San Sebastián, another that is about to disappear.
We have been with the "summer snake" over the TAV for a few weeks and with the possibility of linking the "Basque Y" from Pamplona, from Ezkio or Vitoria.
