On December 19, 2018, the case was seen for judgment at the National Court. Although it was expected to be published in the autumn, the result will finally be known after November 10, according to Mercedes Guerrero: “I think it will be published by the end of the fall. I want to think it will be before Christmas.”
This is the largest case of alleged corruption known in the Basque Autonomous Community. There are 26 defendants and over a hundred witnesses. Among the defendants was the former PNV deputy in the Territorial Council of Local Administrations and Finance of Álava Alfredo De Miguel, who faces a sentence of 29 years in prison. He and 25 other defendants are accused, among other crimes, of coercing, money laundering, the prevention and falsification of documents.
