Climbing a truck from the company ISN, they call the strike in the cleaning sector of Navarra
- The cleaning trade unions in Navarre have called for a strike on 13, 14, 15 and 16 April to call for a dignified agreement. LAB, CCOO, ELA, UGT and Solidari continue to strike for lack of results.
In the work of extinguishing the strike, at 6:00 this Friday two cleaning workers have climbed to a truck from the cleaning company ISN in Beriáin. “Because it’s a truck from a company that blocks the deal, we’ve blocked the road,” the LAB union said.
In addition, the unions appeared on Thursday in Bilbao to denounce the minimum services decreed by the Department of Education to deal with the cleaning strike. The Department of Education has made available to strikers the minimum services of 100 per cent established. The cleaning workers attended the meetings with the workers' representatives of the students and the education sector. The trade unions believe that this measure, in practice, limits the right to strike. “In order to guarantee the total cleanliness of the educational establishments – the union representatives say – we have advised Carlos Gimeno that the companies that hire their departments are those that return to the negotiating table and do not guarantee the clean-up by violating the right to strike of the cleaners”.
Intention to improve the labour agreement
According to the unions, workers have been on a frozen wage for years and suffering a huge wage gap, “and when we get sick we continue to suffer payroll cuts,” said María Urrutia of LAB. The sector is very feminized and has shorter working hours.
With regard to the convention, the trade unions have raised three issues this year: One, raise wages above the CPI; two, recover the allowances paid in the casualties and charge them at 100%; and three, extend the working hours to be able to live from that wage. For the time being, the employer has opposed the requests of those affected by the case. That is why the trade unions have called for a general strike for next week, according to trade union sources.
