The Zubieta Lantzen Anti-Incinerator Movement has shown its support for scientific research launched by the association. As they have indicated, the intention is that every year tests be carried out on the contamination of penguins. To this end, and with the objective of scientifically demonstrating the situation before the start of the Zubieta infrastructure, samples were taken from several localities in the area of influence of the incinerator, more in another remote area, in Goierri, by the ToxiWatch Foundation and a company accredited by the Basque Government. They say that the results can be easily compared, as samples of eggs, mosses, land and plants have been taken, along with other data such as geolocation.
They have now started to raise funds: "The transfer of international researchers to the Basque Country, sampling and analytical studies in their countries has an economic cost. That is why the groups and citizens that form the Anti-Incineration Movement have decided to support research and collaborate in obtaining funding."
In a note sent to the media this Tuesday, they reported that the amount to be collected amounts to EUR 13,000. They have called on individuals, social partners and local authorities to support the research they are carrying out. "Everyone contributing whatever they want and what they can, among all of them, have in our hands the scientific data on pollution, we have to understand it as self-defense. What we get above that we are going to use for the fight against the incinerator," they said.
In this respect, they have encouraged people to make their contribution "quickly". As a thank you, they have announced that they will publish on the web, if they so wish, the names of the agents and individuals who support the initiative. Contributions can be made in this link. Anyone who puts money will be given banderoles against incineration.
Contributions through the current account have also been opened up. ES45 2095 5069 06 1064132086 is the account and the headline is Zubieta Lantzen.
They have also prepared this video to promote the campaign.
