It is a matter of blood, or that has been proposed by several Italian politicians and health experts. The proposal is to perform blood tests on workers to identify those who have anti-virus antibodies and go to their work. Others should follow the lockdown.
At the moment, it's just a hypothesis, because scientists aren't sure that having antibodies means immunity. However, the pressure from the authorities to reactivate the economy is increasing and can become a real opportunity.
That is what some politicians have said and they have made proposals. The governor of Veneto has proposed a "license" for workers demonstrating that they have antibodies and that they have passed the virus. Former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has proposed a “CovidPasea” for people who have been cured.
Uncertainty again
Italy is the first western state to have suffered the coronavirus pandemic and has inevitably become the model of others. The decisions taken by the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, and his Government have become a guideline for the countries around it, which has led to strong pressure on the state.
That was the case with the confinement, which was the first European country to take this measure, on 9 March. He was followed by the lockdown decisions of the other states.
The proposal for blood tests and “passes” is nothing more than that, the proposal. However, it is clear to Italy that its decisions, in addition to being appropriate or inadequate, are also ethical or unethical in the eyes of the international community, that is, repetitive or unrepeatable. Therefore, more care should be taken not only for the lives of the Italians, but also for the credibility and reliability of the government in this crisis.
