We have argued that poverty and lack of freedom are the hallmark of the proletarian model of life that is being implemented in the new productive cycle. Now we can say higher than ever: “The lack of freedom is poverty and poverty is the lack of freedom.” And that is that, arguing for the expansion of the pandemic, we have been forced from one day to the next by a savage social model: the police state, the radical trimming of civil and political rights, the general appeal for obedience to power and the strict disciplining of the working class. They do not seem to be measures designed to overcome the health emergency. What is more, what we defend is that they have been designed to make poverty more widespread, to neutralize rights and freedoms, to promote an alienating sociocultural model and to strengthen the police state.

All this seems to be a model of society in charge of the productive forces and the blocks of oligarchy, increasingly controlled on social resources. In this sense, we understand that what is being implemented is a direct dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. Therefore, in order to denounce this situation, during the weekend hundreds of young people from Hego Euskal Herria have taken to the streets, and for the future we intend to continue the denunciation while this offensive continues.

To the extent that it questions the fundamentals of the form of capitalist production, the capitalist crisis is a global force with the power to change the global socioeconomic structure. In this sense, we can say that we are in a moment of transition from an entire historical paradigm, in which we understand some important changes of a historical nature: the modernization of the global economic structure, automation, and so on.

based on digitalisation and robotisation; the change of geopolitical power correlations and the imperialist decline of Europe; the progressive elimination of welfare and law states, based on imperialism over colonized countries; the tremendous rise of the authority of the financial oligarchy, etc. With regard to these changes, we understand the sense of the restrictive measures being applied by the bourgeois states of France and Spain, as well as the model for managing the pandemic itself.

In fact, the main cause of the seriousness of the state of health is the lack of will to allocate great knowledge and technological resources to ensure the health of society. But that is not just a matter of state, but of the oligarchy that the state has: the largest company, the investment funds, the banks, the industrial and financial corporations, etc. The sovereign subject, that is, the subject who has authority and makes strategic decisions, is not so much the bourgeois state, but the oligarchy behind it. You can never play beyond the existing possibilities, but you need a willingness to take advantage of the opportunities in terms of historical phases, even more so in emergency situations. However, the great bourgeoisie has made it clear that it has no will to put people’s health as a priority and to allocate all resources to ensuring people’s well-being. Instead, poverty and lack of freedom have been established as standards.

Along with all this, we also consider the following elements to be important and denouncing: the corrupt and classicist nature of the entire state apparatus; the political powerlessness and the collaborationist character of social democracy; and mass media fraud.

Recent events have shown the nature of the political and administrative structure. Institutional policy is devalued today, because it is totally dependent on the great bourgeoisie: the population has no mechanism to control political parties, the rulers are representatives of the capital blocks, truth and reason are never criteria for decision-making, there is a politically intervened and dishonored judiciary... The entire institutional structure is corrupted and completely dependent on strategic industrial and financial interests. Within the bourgeois model, politics is not an instrument for ordering social life according to the principles of truth and reason, but a corrupt structure of professional politicians to maintain the bourgeois social order. Therefore, any agent or group that puts institutional policy at the heart of the political strategy, even if its activity materializes outside the institutions, can never become a real alternative.

In addition, the political powerlessness and the cooperative character of Social Democracy have again been highlighted in recent months. Although capitalism implies savage looting and exploitation at a global level, socialdemocracy wants to convince us that it is possible to manage social resources in a different way, but every time the gravity of the situation increases, the only thing it manages is to support or bleach the existing block, as has happened in the Spanish bourgeois state. On the other hand, what the Basque Government is doing is absolutely serious: in the last elections half of the population did not go to vote. This, on the one hand, delegitimizes the government. On the other hand, those who went to vote voted on a political programme, not applying restrictive measures that remind fascism as a technique of government.

In addition, the action of the official major autonomous and state media is denounced. Instead of being an effective means of understanding reality through information and increasing intellectual capacity in society, they are means that depend on the great bourgeoisie: criminalisation campaigns are carried out, information is hidden, sensationalism is imposed, an attempt is made to conceal a great process of proletarianization ... Media fraud is also a way of limiting freedom to citizenship.

The world bourgeois society is in deep decline. But the most serious thing is not that bourgeois society runs the risk of failing as a human project, but that history itself, as a human project of emancipation, is in danger. We have to keep the communist horizon alive and to that end it is essential to build a communist organisation of the working class.
