The New Popular Front (FHB) has comfortably won the second round of the French legislative elections in the fifth district of the country. In this district spanning the large coastal cities, such as Baiona or Angelu, and the towns of the interior, the National Union (RN) has only won in Gixune, for a very small margin, and in the other municipalities the left has won.
Colette Capdevielle's candidacy won 40,607 votes, 62.64% of the total, and almost doubles the results of a week ago (22,643).
Participation in this district has been very similar to that of the first week, so 70.72% of the citizens who were called have come to the polls.
In the first round, the FHB achieved 32.30% of the votes, almost five points above the far right (27.54%). Florence Lasserre (Ensemble), ruled by the French president, Emmanuel Macron, was very close to the second place (26.63%), but decided to withdraw his candidature following the slogan of his party. Of the three districts occupying Ipar Euskal Herria, only in this district have the far right and the left competed, alone, in front of each other.
Of the three districts occupying Ipar Euskal Herria, only the extreme right and the left have competed in this one, in front of each other.
But I was about to see where the voters of the Ensemble would go and what the voters of the other right-wing parties who had not reached the minimum rate for running for the second round would do. Capdevielle, a moderate side of the Socialist Party, far from the image of the ‘radical left’ that has been the media, seems to have attracted many of those voters and won those thousands of votes, with a historic result.
The map of the first lap has been turned
Village to village, in the fifth district it can be seen that the left has achieved very good results in the most populated towns and cities on the coast; in Baiona, for example, the citizens who have supported the FHB (14,397) are twice the right of the RN (7,097).
Although the competition inside has been more moderate, the color has turned – in the first lap the RN was the first force in most of them – and the FHB has been imposed, except in Gixun, where the RN has won by only five votes.

Three months have passed since the elections to the French Parliament. It was July 7, and to everyone's surprise, the New Popular Front on the left, the FHB, won. With the aim of cutting the road to the far right that was successful in the first round, in the second round the... [+]
The sun has risen for the fourth time in the besieged area of the Baiona festivities and I believe that in this northern Basque Country we breathe better, especially because our three Members are from the New People’s Front and we have relegated the third place to the black... [+]
One student told me once we studied a text: “The character is sick: the thought moves in his head.” Obviously, with this phrase, he misplaced the comment he had in his mind, that is, that the imbecility of the character was noticed in his continuous reflections. However,... [+]
At 20:00 hours the first data came out, which has surprised in general: The far-right RN that used to locate all the surveys has been third and the New Popular Front of the Left FHB. The NB, which was seen in the majority or in the absolute majority, has been a slap for the... [+]
