The Galician nightmare began shortly after he was told he was bisexual. She had to change school, but bullying continued to suffer and harassment became continual through social media. “He couldn’t withstand so much hatred,” the associations say in a statement.
Helplessness in the center
Sexual orientation at school remains one of the main causes of bullying. Non-heterosexual students often feel unprotected, perhaps at home they don't know about their sexual orientation, and maybe they don't find in the teachers someone they trust who tells them what happens to them. School is often not a safe, comfortable, or friendly space for these students, and that is why it is so important to work and raise the issue in classrooms, also in the rest of society, emphasizing affective sexual education and educating in diversity.
Not on the victim, the LGBTI+ associations wanted to focus on the aggressors, as they consider that the best way to address the problem is to focus on the attitude of others. The statement also criticized "those who, although not assaulted, did not look away from him for fear or indifference" and call him an accomplice to the murder.
These associations make it clear: It has been a “social murder” and as a society it is up to us to work on the issue.
