The events took place at 9 a.m. on 1 January this year. According to the testimonies of some people who were in a festive atmosphere, the agents began to charge "without words" against the people who were inside the gaztetxe and surroundings. They have also stressed that they entered the building occupied for 30 years without permission.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the five young people have been arrested on charges of aggression against an agent of the authority. However, the images disseminated do not show any aggression against Foral Police officers, according to the same sources.
Following interpretations of the latest police action against gaztetxe, members of the assembly wanted to make it clear that they have not evicted gaztetxe. They have also denounced the “provocative” attitude of the City Hall, “evidently it is not so assaulted in other places. We have never known other cases in which there has been a repressive response such as today’s.”
The young people have stated that they still do not need information on the facts, “we still do not know why dozens of ammunition have entered with a threatening attitude, without giving any explanation and without giving any opportunity to dialogue.”
