For three days a strike will take place in the metallurgical sector of Bizkaia, as reported on Wednesday by representatives of the trade unions ELA, LAB, ESK, USO, CNT, CGT, CCOO and UGT. On 23, 30 and 1 July, the stoppages will be held. The aim is to overcome the "blockade" established by the employers in order to achieve a decent agreement. In addition to the strike, June 13 will be mobilized at the BEC of Barakaldo as a Machine Tool Biennial.

The strike announced by FVEM at the headquarters of the Federation of Metal Companies in Bizkaia is not casual, but is meant to point out that it is responsible for the blockade they live in. The unions have explained that the two sides have already met on eight occasions, and at the last meeting held on 26 May the employers denied the seventeen points proposed by the unions. According to the unions, "the FVEM despised the working class of the metal of Bizkaia". In the face of the refusal, the trade unions told FVEM that in the event of another proposal, it should be called, but to date they have had no news. That is why they accuse the employers of blocking the situation, hampering the road to a dignified convention.

"Bizkaia metal companies had a very good year in their results in 2021. This 2022 is also very successful. There is a heavy workload in the sector. However, what the employers offer us at the negotiating table is a loss of purchasing power, and they do not want to know about other improvements proposed by the unions. Faced with this irresponsible attitude of FVEM, we believe it is time to fight for our own. It is time to call for a fair distribution of the wealth generated. Bizkaia's metallurgy is time to go on strike," the unions said.
