Serrano IZKO was arrested and imprisoned for belonging to ETA at the end of the Franco regime. He was locked up in Segovia prison and, in fact, participated in the well-known flight of several ETA members, although he was captured. He later became a member of politico-military ETA until he left the armed organization and entered the Basque Left.

This party, following the merger agreement with the PSE, left the party and gave History classes at a school in Pamplona/Iruña. However, he did not fail to follow the political actuality of Euskal Herria, as demonstrated by the articles he has written for many years in various media, including ARGIA.

In the 2000s he returned to politics and was a candidate for the Senate by Navarre Bai twice (2004 and 2008). Geroa Bai was the second force on the list of the 2011 Spanish Congress elections, just behind Uxue Barkos. And that is precisely why, in 2015, he also participated in the Congress of Deputies, when Barkos took over the presidency of Navarra.

But the political trajectory is not enough to understand what Serrano IZKO has been. We must also take into account the contribution as a writer, especially as an essayist: Fear bera zaldi (Pamiela, 2002), Bakezale gerlariak (Pamiela, 2004), True for peace, no pacification (Pamiela, 2004) and Navarra. He has also published books such as Jauzika Aphorism (Pamiela, 2010) and the book of narratives Onkoteak (Pamiela, 1987).

In March of this year he published his last article in ARGIA, entitled “Distortions”, in which he spoke about the updating of Navarre’s foral civil law and the clash with the Spanish legal framework.
