After analysing the epidemiological situation caused by the coronavirus in the LABI Advisory Council, last Saturday the Basque Government announced a series of measures aimed at further limiting the concentration and mobility of people. Within this package of measures, it was envisaged that sessions would be limited to six persons, both in the public and private spheres.
The Basque Government was waiting for the High Court of Justice of the Basque Country to issue these resolutions for publication and entry into force in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country. However, the court has rejected the measure of limiting the number of meetings to six persons by court order.
The High Court of Justice of the Basque Country considers that this is a measure that violates fundamental rights. The Government will therefore be able to recommend to citizens that they do not meet in groups of more than six persons, but will not be able to oblige citizens to meet this criterion.
