Today it is early dawn in Estella, as at 8 am music has been heard in the classrooms of the Ikastola. At 9 a.m., young people have gathered at the La Bota Association for breakfast. Coffee and biscuits have begun the long journey ahead of them.
At 10 a.m., the official program in the plaza de los Fueros began with a reflection on feminist self-defense. To begin with, they wanted to make a general location of the reflection, and for this they invited Aiora Epelde, member of Emagine, in Estella. Epelde has talked about the practices and actions of the feminist movement of the Basque Country around self-defense and its evolution. Then, Maialen Uribe, of Egin Dezagun Topo, has released details of the participatory process developed by the girls* in recent months. He has presented the main conclusions, among which he stresses that the current self-defence model has come to a standstill and that the practice of young girls* is often limited to that. These conclusions will be presented as a presentation at the feminist conference in Durango, and the conclusions of the participatory process for its realization have been discussed in groups below.
With this debate, the girls* have completed the group dynamic* and then had the opportunity to participate in alternative talks. Oihane Garcia will talk about the relationship between Marxism and feminism. The talk has aroused great interest, and García has started his speech by filling the room. García has referred to Marxism and feminism, and has begun to make a brief history of the evolution of Marxism, both in the current context of Euskal Herria and in the current world. Finally, and delving deeper into critical Marxism, García has referred to interdependent and multiple oppression, focusing more on what each devotes to liberation processes than on the conflict between the two terms.
At the same time, they have projected the documentary Zauria(k), a piece that works madness and bodies from a feminist perspective. In the Gaztetxe, Tania Siriany, for his part, has offered a conference on decolonialism in the Consistorial House. Finally, girls have also had the opportunity to deepen Feminist Self-Defense*, to address more calmly the conclusions that have been drawn in the process of participation and debate given.
After the morning workshops, the youth met again in the Plaza de los Fueros, and after making a morning synthesis, the V Encuentro de Euskal Herria was held in Durango in November. They've all taken a picture together to call the Feminist Days. Then it was the turn to eat, and despite the sun, the girls* have enjoyed the good atmosphere and the good food. They've also made a toast and they've finished the food picking up the turtles.
The programme has resumed its activity at 4 p.m. The desktop couldn't be otherwise, and creative workshops have been the bulk of the program's offering. This has been the workshops of Bertsohop, Cartelería, Kantudefensa and Circuit de Juegos Creatives, which have served to put colors, sounds and sensations to feminism, liberating creativity in different ways. In the talks, on the contrary, Kattalin Miner has talked about the logger in the Basque Country, has had the opportunity to theorize about the direct action in the gaztetxe and have stood in front of the Salda Dago conference in the workshop Towards the Conference.
In the second part of the afternoon, however, other struggles that permeate current feminism have taken the lead, and so they have talked about the workers, butchers, fat, anti-specionists, ecologists, feminist subjects of the rural world and of education.
Finally, at the end of the day, an event has been held in the Plaza de los Fueros. The meetings have valued your thoughts and have ratified your decision to act with a voice and a heart for the future. In addition to deepening feminist self-defense, they have called for the dissemination of self-defense in towns and neighborhoods as a defense mechanism in the face of any type of aggression, and invite all girls* to participate in the November feminist days. The illusion and emotion have been evident throughout the act, especially when they have sung the song they have made in the Kantudefensa workshop. The dancing music of the video that gathered the activities of the year has put people to dance, and the meetings have ended with joy and with a desire to keep fighting in their towns and neighborhoods.
The 5th edition of the Durango Fair will be held in November in Durango. We ended the Egin Dezagun Topa in the face of the Feminist Conference! meetings. The reflections and videos agreed on these days at Estella will be reflected in the conferences through a workshop and a presentation. In it, self-defense and youth* subject will be the main themes they will address, and they have encouraged all girls* to participate in the closing event.
