The judge of the Paris Correctional Court has ruled that he is guilty of association of wrongdoers even though there is not enough evidence to prove his membership of ETA between 2003 and 2005. The judge considered the "sympathy" with ETA and its relationship with ETA to be proven, and sentenced him to two years in jail. He will not have to go into prison, although he will have to attend for a year the appointments established by the judge of the application of prison sentences. The prosecutor, for his part, can still appeal the judgment.
Urrutikoetxea was tried on 8 and 9 October for a crime of gender-based violence. The prosecutor asked for a four-year prison sentence, without the need to do so, even though he claimed that he had no reason to enter prison. In February of next year, another trial will be held at the Paris Court of Appeal, charged with a crime of collaboration with ETA in 2005.
