On November 10, it was reported that the parents of the Ikastola Langile de Hernani had found a worm in the food served to the children and asked the Education Department of Lakua to suspend the contract with the company in charge of the Serunión service for “poor quality” of the food given. They recalled that for many children the dining service is a “only option” and that it is urgent to offer a “quality and health” service.
Since then, the City of Hernani has communicated its “direct and continuous relationship” with the families and direction of the Ikastola Langile, “making municipal resources available to the Mancomunidad de la Ikastola”. He points out that although school canteens depend on the Department of Education of the Basque Government, for the City of Hernani it is also “cause for concern” that occur in the local schools.
Therefore, the City Hall has been “prepared” to work on dining models and has already taken its first steps. Thus, in collaboration with the Delegations of Fathers and Mothers of each educational center in Hernani, an alternative dining model for all schools and students of the municipality and its viability will be studied.
