The outsourced staff of the Osakidetza cleaning service began a new strike cycle on 20 March. LAB, UGT, CCOO and ESK extend the strike until 2 April and ELA until 3 April.
On the first day of strike, mobilisations have been made in the three Basque territories. 10:00 hours at Donostia Hospital, 10:30 hours at Araba University Hospital and 12:00 hours at Galdakao Hospital.
Outsourced staff request that the same conditions apply as Osakidetza staff. Trade unions report that they have been without a convention for five years and that negotiations have been "blocked" since the process of negotiating the new convention began in 2018.
They add that the awarded companies are "in a comfortable position" because they have placed the responsibility on Osakidetza and do not want to agree anything with the trade unions without the approval of the Osakidetza Directorate.
At the end of February there was also a one-week strike and there were incidents after the Ertzaintza hit the strikers.
