Zerain begins with a definition of a transformative social economy: "The Transformative Social Economy is a collective act to build an alternative economic system, in which solidarity, collectivity and putting life at the center are the main values. The economy is an instrument for the needs of life and the person; a resource and not an end. But this movement or vision is not only an economic proposal or practice, but also a political and cultural proposal or practice". (Follow KoopFabrika definition)
Taking this definition into account, the former coordinator believes that Bertsozale Elkartea is related to the characteristics of the ESE. The reasons given are as follows:
Bertsozale Elkartea is a project that has social viability and offers the possibility of satisfying the personal development and different motivations of its members. The objective of the partnership is to achieve an economic viability of "solidarity and public collaboration", as explained. Zerain makes the presentation challenging the future: "The Bertsozale Elkartea association is not an isolated case. Society is constantly changing and also the way herrigintza/elkartegintza is made. Under the motto "everything for the project" we have built in this town powerful projects, and now we have to "rebuild the herrigintza/elkartegintza" based on the person-project balance". He sees the need to "move forward with new and colored glasses".
