Mayors of Baztan on the Aroztegia project
Through this text, the mayors who subscribe to this letter wish to show our solidarity with the people of Lekaroz.
We have just learned that, without respecting the will of the neighbours and neighbours of Lekaroz and Baztan, the works of the urban project of Aroztegi have been launched. To these imposed works must be added the constant presence and persecution of the police, which impede the free movement of Lekaroz, which forces us to identify what has been going on at any time.
As reported by the neighbours of Lekaroz, “(Palacio de Aroztegia S.L.) has closed all public roads in the surroundings, preventing the move to citizenship. On the other hand, the police presence on the open roads, by the people and in the plaza has become commonplace, identifying and threatening the citizenship here and there”.

A project has been presented for years in Kisua lands, in Arizkun lands, in the Amaiur area. It was not a suitable project for the Baztan Valley. At present, in this area there is a project that adapts to Baztan and is viable, with regard to organic apples.
Following on from the previous case, why has the word of the lekaroztarras not been respected in this case?
Who can believe and defend that the imposed urban project benefits the people?

As the group of mayors in Lekaroz has done and by taking our own initiative, what we want is “to bring our solidarity to all those who have suffered some kind of harassment for defending the corners of the people”.
We call on the citizens to join the people of Lekaroz and to participate in the demonstration that will take place on 15 May at 17:30 a.m.
Lekaroz has to live, Baztan has to live, we will stop the carpentry!
