The General Assembly of Baztan expresses its solidarity with the seven accused of paralyzing the work of Aroztegi
The General Assembly of Baztan has adopted a motion in solidarity with the Aroztegi defendants and calls for acquittal. At the meeting on 2 January last, the motion was adopted with 25 votes in favour, two against and three abstentions.

Baztan’s General Assembly has denounced that “it is not fair” to criminalise citizens and their representatives for defending lands and resources that belong to all. Furthermore, the committee criticises the fact that the Government of Navarra does not defend the interests of the citizens, but rather defends "private and speculative" interests. They affirm that they have endeavoured to impose this project with the approval of the Supramunicipal Impact Plan (PMUS).
In the spring of 2021, construction works of 228 luxury homes in the village of Lekaroz were paralyzed through a long camp by several Baztan neighbours. Seven citizens who participated in these protests have been prosecuted, who are called 20 years in prison and EUR 56,000 in the form of an "organised criminal group", according to the police.
The General Board of Baztan has denounced the situation of Baztan’s neighbours who are opposed to Lekaroz’s macro-urban project. In this regard, he pointed out that the citizens and representatives of the parties that have participated in the opposition to the project suffer “judicial and economic” harassment and highlighted five points.
In it, they have defended the right of the citizens of Euskal Herria to decide on their future and have claimed the sovereignty of the peoples and their right to decide. They have also asked the Government of Navarra to stop the PAU and have joined the national demonstration to be held on 1 February in Pamplona/Iruña.

Aroztak Herri Ekimenak jakinarazi du sei pertsona epailearen aurretik igaro beharko direla, Aroztegiako makroproiektuaren aurkako protesten harira. Ekimenak babesa helarazi die, eta mobilizazioak deituko dituela iragarri.
