Feria de Ordizia
According to Goierriko Hitza, the market in Ordizia will not be the usual one. I was in doubt that it was a coronavirus and if they could do so this week, but in the end, they will adapt it to the circumstances. It will have nothing to do with the weekly market, but the posts will be placed by nine baserritars that approach the fair every week. The City Hall of Ordizia explained that “due to the volume of the fair on Wednesday, and to ensure proper sanitary conditions, it is impossible to maintain it”. It has therefore been decided to limit the capacity to the seats in the square, and only the baserritars and producers of local products will be able to put their jobs.
Just as some of the food shops are still open, the City Hall wanted to offer farmers the possibility of “selling their perishable products”, always guaranteeing “all security measures”. To do so, access to the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca will be controlled to avoid agglomerations and to maintain the security distances.
Wednesday morning fair of Ezpeleta
On 17 March the village house of Ezpeleta announced that it will keep the fair on Wednesdays in the morning. The health measures that the current situation requires must be respected.

The City Hall will hold the Tuesday fair in Azpeitia
“The purchase of food is essential to meet the basic needs of citizens. It does not make sense to have large supermarkets open and not to do the fair of the baserritars. It will not be the whole Tuesday fair, it will be a baserritarras fair,” said General Service Councilor Josu Labaka. In addition, he has asked the citizens to “act with common sense and responsibility”, both when “going to the fair and when buying”.
The baserritarras that sold at the fair on 17 March have published in Uztarria the opinion article Ot. etorkizuna. "It will not be easy weeks, but we hope that the institutions will take decisions in the same direction. Through these lines we would like to thank the consumers who have come to the fair as every week, and the Azpeitia City Hall and Urkome who have helped us to take the necessary measures to make the fair possible."
To deal with the disease, the City Council has established the following measures:
The distances between baserritarras and between clients and baserritarras shall be maintained; the baserritarras shall wear gloves and disinfect the hands of one purchase to another; and the products shall be touched exclusively by the baserritarras.
Those who go shopping to the Plaza del Mercado should go individually, one per family; "the elderly are recommended not to go and the City Hall recommends not to go with the children". The Basque Government has made available to people in need of assistance in purchasing their establishments.
All information is available on the website of the Azpeitia City Hall.
In Arrasate the fair with special measures is also underway
This is what Goiena has said. From 17 March to 1 April, the Arrasate City Hall has decided to maintain the fair with special measures. "The government's intention was to close at the beginning, but the opposition called for it not to be closed and the government, with some conditions, to accept it," Goiena explained in a statement. The indications will be written at the door of the fair and the citizens will have to go to the fair individually.
