To denounce the "offensive of the big bankers and businessmen", on Saturday thousands of people went to protest the streets of Bilbao and Pamplona convened by the Socialist Youth Coordinator.

"Energy companies, large supermarket chains, arms companies, central banks, etc. have made a big business in 2022, while the situation of workers around the world has deteriorated," the spokesmen of the organization said at the closing ceremony. They have also denounced the "responsibility of professional politicians" as "highly dependent on the financial oligarca and the European Union" and their job is to "manage the social misery applied to the working class.

They have also talked about the war in Eastern Europe, above all to point out that the impoverishment of workers is "exacerbated": "they have no money to improve the living conditions of citizens, but they do have money to defend their particular oppressive interests".

In any case, the message is not addressed to bankers, businessmen and politicians: "In order to cope with the situation we live we need our own tools; we must become independent political subjects". They stress that the orientation is the Socialist State, which must be "the strategic unit for international action".

As for participation data, according to the organisation, 7,000 people have been gathered in Bilbao and Pamplona. Naiz gave the figure of 4,500 and, according to El Correo, 3,000 demonstrators met in Bilbao, as Naiz pointed out.
