As you can read on the web Bertsozale.eus (here all the news), the Bertsolaris Interquadrille Championship of Álava 2010 "was a milestone for Alavese bertsolarism". Since then, this group initiative has been organised every two years and this year is the sixth.
Following the 2018 line, this year will also have championship format and its goal is to strengthen the Bertsolarism movement in Álava.
12 self-organised groups
The participation in this championship takes place in groups and the bertsolaris have the opportunity to act in two ways: suddenly and in writing.
12 makeshift working groups have been set up. Each of these groups has bertsolaris, butters, judges, photographers, recorders and cooks. In total, each group consists of 9-12 members. These groups are responsible for organizing the sessions to be held in their locality or region. In total, 63 bertsolaris, 16 judges, 16 judges, and a total of 25 bertsolaris will participate this year.
The participating groups are as follows: Aiaraldea, Mendialdea, Lautada (two teams), Gorbeialdea (three teams) and Vitoria (five teams).
The written bertsos will involve 16 groups: Gazte Asanblada, Mintzalagun groups, friends crews, members of the bertsolaris school... The bertsolaris will be prepared, written and sung in public or in the company of the street people. Representatives of eight Alavese counties will participate in the form of continuous bertsos.
The written bertsos will be represented in the spontaneous sessions of this championship. Taking into account improvisation and written work, a total of 280 people will participate in the different functions of this year’s Artea Crew.
On January 24, three qualifiers of this championship will be held:
- It rained. At 21:00 in Basalarrina society. Groups: Errexala (Vitoria-Gasteiz) and Altubepe (Aiaraldea).
- Aramaio. At 20:30 in Marixela society. Groups: Izenbakue (Aramaio) and Konde (Aramaio).
- Korres. At 21:00 in the bar of Korres. Groups: Bertsolaris (Mendialdea) and Gladiolores de Kakiturri (Vitoria).
In total, there will be 12 tests in the first eliminators.
1 February: Vitoria and Zalduondo.
February 7, 8: Mendiola and Vitoria (three sessions in the city).
14, 15 February: Salvatierra, Murgia, Aramaio.
The six teams will contest three semi-finals, in which Euskal Telebista will not want to miss the championship.
29 February: Salvatierra.
7 March: Aramaio.
14 March: Amurrio
