Students take to the streets of Bilbao against strange exams
- Students Summoned by Rigorous Dynamics Hundreds of students from Arriaga have demonstrated under the motto 'Strange Study, Rigorous Students'. In the face of strange studies and reforms and in the path of the sovereign Basque Country, they ask to build education "from and for the people".
Students have claimed to be “rigorous” in the face of reforms and studies such as Pisa, LOMCE and Heziberri during the mass protest in Bilbao by members of the Rigorous dynamic. Hundreds of students marched through Arriaga and sat down on the route. They say no to strange tests: "We say no because they are anti-democratic, because they have imposed them on us without taking into account the word of the Educational Community and of the students who are an important part of it. Negative because it is sexist and deepens the distinction of gender; Negative because it is Spanish, both linguistically and culturally; Negative because through different endorsements and exams, they promote competitiveness and individualism among students."
They call for an education system that is “from and for the people” in the face of strange examinations. “Education is a vital pillar for those of us who dream of a free people. We want an education system that is based on co-education to build a feminist Basque Country; we want an education system that makes the Basque Country Basque; we want an education that promotes criticism to acquire the tools to transform reality; we want an education that promotes collaboration because the people are built collectively... we proclaim education for the people and for the people, as well as building it in their daily struggle! ". They call for the construction of a sovereign Basque Country based on education, disobedience and construction.
A Call to Keep Working
Along this path, they are encouraged to continue working with different members of the educational community in the coming weeks. Saturday will be the student day. In the coming weeks, however, they have also called for further work: "With the strength provided by today's show of strength, we now have to convene assemblies in schools, make contacts with unwelcome agents in the village, adapt the planting protocol to our reality and spread it among the students, receive attachments... let's keep working! ".
