In Vitoria we have become accustomed to the public school being a secondary element in the new neighborhoods. Delays in the construction of public schools in Salburua and Zabalgana have condemned hundreds of families to constant struggle. Barracks, displacement and lack of space have been constant for families and children. Furthermore, we have suffered the lies and pride of the political leaders.
But the irresponsibility of the Basque Government and the Alavesa territorial delegation has no limits: the Salburua Institute has accumulated many years of delay. Consequently, our children have been relocated outside the neighborhood. At the end of schooling (2 to 17 years), many Errekabarri students will only be able to study in the neighbourhood for two or three years.
Many displaced students will have to travel about three kilometers daily to reach the Institute in the ESO and five to perform the Baccalaureate
The work of the new institute should be completed a few years ago. The last commitment of those in charge of the Department of Education was that students living in Salburua could continue their journey in the neighborhood and for this they committed to finish the work in 2021. The reality is that it will not be available until September 2024. As a result of this unfortunate management, many displaced students will have to travel three kilometres daily to reach the Institute in the ESO, and five kilometres to complete the Baccalaureate!
In this situation, the families of Errekabarri requested a meeting of the representative and the director of the centres. A clear, simple and feasible proposal to reduce all the damage that will occur: that students who have moved to the Ekialde Institute due to delays in the work of the institute can return to the Neighborhood Institute, once built, to follow their academic trajectory.
To our surprise, the closure of Delegate Aintzane Arrese and the center director was total. Faced with a proposal requiring only small administrative management, the refusal was non-negotiable.
The families of Errekabarri will continue to fight, we will not stop. We chose a neighborhood and nearby public school, because we believe that one of the most important virtues of a school is proximity. The delay in the work has no choice, but the education of our children does, and that is why we will continue to fight.

Many times, after looking at the brumas from my house, it has occurred to me not to catch umbrellas, even though I know I will just soak up. Why will it be? Maybe you don't want to catch the umbrella? Maybe in the hope that I don't get wet? Nevertheless, the conclusion has always... [+]
I remember when I was 16 years old, the Ertzaintza first identified me in a concentration in favor of the Basque Country before the Bergara courts. We believed that in Euskal Herria it was legitimate to cry for the Euskaldunization of the courts, but then there would also be a... [+]

The housing problem is a structural problem that comes from far away. What should be a human right is nothing more than a subjective right. I say that it is a fraud because, although all the institutions and all the political parties say nice words, they do not grasp the... [+]
