Bulls will be held for another year in Donostia Big Week
- The bulls will be tortured and killed once again in the Aste Nagusia of Donostia, which is celebrated for three days. The company Arte y Cultura BMF has announced that the bullfighting of Illumbe will be held on the second weekend of Aste Nagusia, on 15, 16 and 17 August at 18:00 hours.
The right-handed Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza, Morante de la Puebla and Marco Pérez will be the 15th day of the bulls of El Capea, Juan Pedro Domecq and Núñez del Cuvillo. On the 16th, Miguel Ángel Perera, Emilio de Justo and David Galván will kill the bulls of Fuente Ymbro. On August 17, Alejandro Talavante, Roca Rey and Pablo Aguado will kill the bulls of Núñez del Cuvillo.
Cooking and bulls
This year’s bullfighting poster of Donostia has given much to talk about on social media, as the protagonist is a bull dressed as a cook. As the company explained, it is a poster made with artificial intelligence and “a tribute to the great Donostiarras cooks”: “The illustrator poster of the Big Donostiarra Week honors the bullfighting tradition of the city, together with Basque cuisine. Tribute to the great Donostiarras cooks, great fans of the Tauromaquia: Arzak, Berasstrategy, Rekondo, Aduriz, Subijana, Arbelaitz, Gandarias and many more.”
During Aste Nagusia, the Antitaurine Platform of Gipuzkoa organizes a demonstration every year against bullfights, and is usually multitudinous. In addition, in recent years, the bullfights of Illunbe have had little success, as in the stands of the square not many people have been seen, two years ago, for example, less than half of the square was filled in the first two days and three quarters the last day.
