They denounce in Bilbao the Zionist attacks of the weekend and the manipulation of the media about them.
- The Israeli basketball team Hapoel Holon and his followers visited Bilbao at the weekend and the incidents between Israelis and citizens were the news. On Wednesday, the residents of Bilbao La Vieja and the Casco Viejo call for a concentration to publicize their account of the facts. They denounce that several media outlets have tried to criminalise citizens for responding to Zionist and fascist attacks, and that the police have not intervened in these attacks. They ask the City Council of Bilbao to take responsibility for the facts.
On Wednesday afternoon, the residents of Bilbao La Vieja and the Casco Viejo de Bilbao held a concentration on the San Antón bridge. During the Sunday riots, several people met in front of the Amets bar, harshly damaged by Israeli supporters of the basketball team Hapoel Holon, and at 19:00 they cut off the road to make their story known "before the events of these days and what has not been said".
This has been one of the things that they have denounced: the story that some media outlets have disseminated about the weekend events and the attempt to criminalise the neighbours who have confronted the Zionists with that story. Making direct reference to the news made public by the newspaper El Correo, they regretted that the neighbors qualified as "radical pro-Palestinians." In view of this, they have stated: "No, gentlemen. We are solidary neighbors and do not accept the injustices or the role that we want to be assigned in this role-playing game. We are neighborhoods that do not ignore the will to be organized and defend themselves from institutional decisions or from the wild fascists or Zionists".
They say that what they have done is simply to show their solidarity with the Palestinian people and to defend them against the attacks. Being one of its most important values as a neighborhood of solidarity, "since we knew that this group of the Zionist State was going to spend the weekend among us, giving normality to the Palestinian occupation, we decided to give visibility to the struggle of this country". Thus, several bars and cultural centres hung the Palestinian flag and, at the visit of the Israelis, mobilizations were convened on both Friday and Sunday. They explain that the incidents were due to Hapoel Holon's followers not being able to bear.
They have also denounced that during their stay in Bilbao, the Zionists have attacked the citizens "with all the impunity that both the agents and the Ertzainas have given them". And in this sense, they have asked what initiatives such as the Final Four of the Champions League for Basketball bring to the city, and why an Asian team plays in a tournament at European level. "The Zionist State is not Europe," they recall, suggesting that Israel's participation seeks to normalize the occupation of Palestine.
After exposing their experiences and reports, they ask the City Council of Bilbao to close the concentration assuming responsibility for the facts and the favorable attitude of the citizens who have suffered Zionist and fascist attacks. For their part, they report that they reaffirm themselves as neighbours in the choice of self-defense in the face of any attack.

In view of the story that has been imposed on the events that took place during the weekend, the need to make their story heard has been materialized among the citizens. Wednesday's appearance, as well as the chronology of the events that took place on Tuesday by the Housing Union of the Casco Viejo de Bilbao AZET, responded to this need. “In the face of the lies of the City Hall and the media poisoning, we will review what happened. It hasn’t happened as you’ve been told!” they warn.
On a Twitter cable, they've collected what's happened every day. They say that the followers of Hapoel Holon were accompanied by the Zionist symbology since their arrival, and that the Bilbaínos started a provocation before the solidarity gestures shown to the Palestinian people, giving way to conflicts. Among others, they pointed out that the Israelis left the Nix hotel on Sunday, recalling that “it is an Israeli hotel managed and financed by Zionists”.
