The concentration was held last Monday in the Plaza de Deba under the motto “No to racism, machismo, fascism, xenophobia”. Hundreds of people have denounced the facts and shown their support for Gillen García, Mayor of EH Bildu. The graffiti that have highlighted the feminist, migrant and foreign movement have also threatened the mayor of the locality: “Gillen, close the mosque. First warning,” one of the sentences said.
Several collectives who had been thrown by the painting took the floor and read a letter during the concentration, thanking the solidarity received before the event. In defense of coexistence, they stated that Deba is a plural people and that they will not tolerate “painted, fascist, racist or chauvinist attitudes and threats”.
Following the event, he also met with the parties represented at the City Council of Deba. They adopted a statement condemning the events and conveying their support to all the groups and people who have been offended. The City Council of Must, for its part, has stressed that it is a plural people and that it will continue to defend the rights of all citizens.
