40 years after the murder of Didier Lafitte on 1 March. The Friends of Didie association prepares a tribute in memory of Didier. The members of Manu Irigoyen and Terexa Mitxelena, along with Paxkal Lafitt, presented on 13 February in the Baltsan society of Ziburu to express the family’s commitment to the initiative. A week-long tribute in Ziburu and San Juan de Luz, from 26 February to 3 March.

“Since then we have organized tributes for his memory, but this year, on the occasion of the 40 years of his disappearance, we decided to mark him, with a tribute that will last a week,” explains Manu Irigoyen, member of Didieren Lagunak.

The tribute will be divided into four major acts. The first date will be February 26 at 21:00 in the Le Select film of San Juan de Luz: The film Generation Autonomistes Basques will be shown. Organized as a film debate, a journalist encourages the protagonists of the film to meet.

On February 28, a round table will be held at the Hostal La Grillerie du Port in San Juan de Luz, under the title Youth of 1980 and current events. The goal of the organization is to bring together young people from before and today around a table.

The tribute will take place on 1 March, the day of the murder. 40 years ago he was named Didier Lafitte Square (Louis XIV) in San Juan de Luz at 19:00. In the end, the most important quote will come, according to the organizers. Because March 3 is Arrantzale Maitagarria Day. At 11:00 he will pay tribute to Didier Laffite with a dance they have created for the day of the hand of young local dancers. A meal will be held in Ziburu at 14:00. In the afternoon, in the ballpark, concerts.

Didier Lafitte

He was a member of the Iparretarrak group. He was killed by the French Police in Baiona on 01 March 1984. He was shot trying to escape the raid on two members of the armed organization. He was from San Juan de Luz and was the first nationalist militant killed by the French police.
